Quick Checks
Temperature Settings
- Check thermostat setting
- Should be 37-40°F for fresh food
- 0°F for freezer
- May have been accidentally adjusted
- Is it plugged in securely?
- Check circuit breaker
- Look for display lights
- Listen for compressor running
- Are vents blocked by food?
- Is the unit overcrowded?
- Check behind the refrigerator for clearance
- Locate coils (usually behind or underneath)
- Unplug refrigerator
- Vacuum or brush clean
- Restore power
- Close door on dollar bill
- Should resist pulling
- If slides easily, seal needs attention
- Freezer has frost buildup
- Fan sounds labored
- Back of freezer icy
- Quick checks don't help
- Compressor isn't running
- Strange noises
- Temperature won't stabilize
