- Light matches or candles
- Start car in garage
- If safe to do so
- Create ventilation
- Exit path clear
- Locate main shutoff
- Turn to off position
- Usually at meter
- Get everyone out
- Including pets
- Move away from building
- Gas company emergency line
- 911 if strong smell or concern
- Leave immediately
- Call gas company
- Don't return until cleared
- May be normal when lighting
- Should dissipate quickly
